The distinguished English actor Mirren, currently winner of an Oscar, four Baftas, Golden Globe wins, five Emmy Awards, and a Tony, will soon receive another esteemed prize to her trophy case: the Cecil B DeMille Golden Globe lifetime honor.

Honors Presentation

Mirren, octogenarian, formerly honored as a dame in 2003 and made a Bafta fellow in the year 2014, will pick up the award in a ceremony on 8 January, three days before the primary Globes ceremony occur, within a ceremony promoted by the organization as Golden Eve.

Additionally featuring the bestowal of the Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for television achievement, the recipient of which remains unannounced. Previous recipients featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Helen Mirren is a powerhouse performer, with a career is nothing short of exceptional,” remarked Helen Hoehne, the Globes’ leader. “Her transcendent performances and commitment to her craft persistently influence numerous actors and audiences alike. It’s a tremendous privilege to award her the Cecil B DeMille award.”

Professional Journey

The star became well-known in the 1970s with key roles in theater in the West End of London and with the Royal Shakespeare Company and in films including O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

During the nineties, her starring role in the crime series Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase significantly. Additional notable movies include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She won an Oscar for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in 2006 film The Queen, a character she reprised in 2013 in The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan regarding the encounters with the Queen and premier Thatcher, a role for which she earned a Tony in 2015.
