Fans Urge Custody of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a person who jumped a barricade and seized the celebrity during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared video depicts the Australian man bypassing camera operators and lunging at Grande while the cast made its way down a promenade flanked by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being taken in", though official papers revealed that he was set to appear on the following morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Record of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account includes recordings of him disturbing other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney performance in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last December.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is evidently a punishable act," wrote an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Followers Show Disapproval Over the Star's Well-being
Many followers blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented one more comment on Instagram.
A number of fans also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals demanded online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In videos shared widely, Grande appeared surprised when she was touched by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of attendees had assembled in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore venue, including several who had queued for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a dual interpretation of the well-known Broadway and West End production Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely friendship between two contrasting characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of 2024 in the UK, and scored a dozen award recognitions, earning several for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
