Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed title that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for embracing chaos and insanity with the same enthusiasm, all while presenting gripping, politically driven tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose projects have represented all of those things.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game series, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' style by featuring a fresh setting and ensemble in each season.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX family constantly supports me with their steady trust and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a story,” explained Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can shift from year to year, while always examining the essence of humanity through this complex and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and bring our mutual unconventional, ambitious sensibility to the screen.”
A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
