Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
