Arsenal's manager has expressed confidence that his squad can keep managing with fitness issues following confirming that attacker Kai Havertz remains out for the coming weeks.

Extended Absence for Havertz

The Germany international has been absent since August following an operation on his knee. Originally slated to return sooner, the manager stated the player encountered a problem when stepping up his training and failed to reach “the next phase.”

“We took lessons, and managed to assemble a group that is much more reliable and has greater depth,” commented Arteta.

Selection Dilemma for Midweek Fixture

This news presents a tactical puzzle for Wednesday’s fixture at the Emirates against Brentford. A decision is required between persisting with Mikel Merino, who found the net in an unfamiliar forward role against Chelsea, or bringing back Viktor Gyökeres, who featured briefly after a fitness issue off the bench. Veteran striker Gabriel Jesus is also an option following a lengthy absence.

Defensive Concerns Linger
