Our Purpose Is Exclusively Eliminating' - How Sudan's Brutal Militia Carried out a Mass Killing

Alert: This Report Contains Graphic Descriptions of Shootings.

Combatants chuckle as they move on the back of a pick-up truck, speeding by a series of multiple corpses and moving facing the sinking African sun.

"See all this effort. Observe this act of mass destruction," one shouts.

The individual beams as he points the recording device on his own face and his fellow combatants, their paramilitary insignia clearly shown: "The victims are all going to die this way."

These individuals are rejoicing over a mass killing that relief organizations suspect claimed the lives of over 2,000 civilians in the Sudan's city of al-Fashir last month.

A City Isolated from the Globe

Following their control of the city under blockade for nearly an extended period, from late summer the militia advanced to consolidate its control and restrict the surviving inhabitants.

Orbital photography demonstrate that fighters began to construct a massive sand wall - a built-up dirt embankment - around the perimeter of the city, closing entry points and blocking relief supplies.

As the siege intensified, 78 individuals were slain in an RSF attack on a religious building on 19 September, while the UN said fifty-three additional were killed in unmanned aircraft and cannon strikes on a displacement camp in fall.

Graphic Footage Depicts Unarmed Civilians Gunned Down

In the early morning on October 26th the paramilitary force conquered the last military strongholds and seized the central headquarters in the community, the command center of the Military Unit, as the army withdrew.

Perhaps the most graphic recordings to surface and analysed showed the results of a mass killing at a campus structure on the western of the city, where numerous corpses were visible strewn over the area.

An older man dressed in a robe was seated by himself surrounded by the bodies. The man turned to gaze as a fighter carrying with a firearm walked along the stairs towards the victim. lifting his firearm, the fighter discharged a single bullet at the man, who dropped to the floor motionless.

"Why is this one yet alive," another militiaman cried. "Shoot him."

Satellite images captured on October 26th appeared to confirm that shootings were also conducted on the roads of el-Fasher, based on a report released by the university analysis team.

An eyewitness who provided testimony reported the individual had seen "numerous of our family members being executed - the victims were gathered in a single location and all eliminated."

RSF Officers Try to Implement Damage Control

In the days that ensued from the atrocity, RSF chief acknowledged that his forces had perpetrated "atrocities" and said the events would be investigated.

Included among arrested was following a investigation detailing his murders. Carefully orchestrated and produced recording posted on the RSF's authorized Telegram platform depict the individual being led into a cell at a prison on the outskirts of al-Fashir.

At the same time, the RSF and connected digital accounts began seeking to alter the account.

Posts showing its militiamen handing out assistance to civilians were disseminated by various accounts, while the force's media office published several clips claiming to show the humane management of government detainees.

In spite of the social media effort being used by the paramilitary, their activities in el-Fasher have provoked international anger.
